Tips for a Smooth Towing Experience

However, for your own peace of mind, here are some of our top tips for having the smoothest experience with towing in Newcastle .

In the event of an emergency, including an injury or a suspected fuel leak, call 000 immediately.

Ensuring your safety, especially following an accident or breakdown, is the number one priority.

If it is safe to do so, move your vehicle to the side of the road and turn on your hazard lights.

If you are on a busy highway, wait in your car, out of the flow of traffic.



If you have to move away from the vehicle, stay as far off the road as possible, in a well-lit area. Use the torch on your phone if necessary.

Waving to the driver will help them locate your vehicle. If you carry safety cones or other high visibility items, arranging these around your car (if it is safe) will help, and don’t forget your hazard lights!

Take the time to confirm with your insurer whether the tow is covered and for what distance of travel.

In the event of breakdown recovery, Trade & General Towing will tow you to the closest mechanic, but if you request an alternate location, your insurance may not cover this, so calling ahead can help you avoid an unwelcome surprise.

  Confirming with your delivery location that you are planning to have your vehicle dropped off can also reduce confusion.
