At Trade & General Towing, we understand that needing a tow can sometimes be stressful.
Our drivers are fully trained, qualified, and insured, so you can rest assured your vehicle will be handled with the utmost care.
However, for your own peace of mind, here are some of our top tips for having the smoothest experience with
towing in Newcastle .
In the event of an emergency, including an injury or a suspected fuel leak, call 000 immediately.
Ensuring your safety, especially following an accident or breakdown, is the number one priority.
If it is safe to do so, move your vehicle to the side of the road and turn on your hazard lights.
If you are on a busy highway, wait in your car, out of the flow of traffic.
If you have to move away from the vehicle, stay as far off the road as possible, in a well-lit area. Use the torch on your phone if necessary.
Keep an eye out for your recovery truck. At Trade & General Towing, all our vehicles have a distinctive blue and white flame design.
Waving to the driver will help them locate your vehicle. If you carry safety cones or other high visibility items, arranging these around your car (if it is safe) will help, and don’t forget your hazard lights!
F or a planned collection, waiting outside the front of your property to flag the driver down will be very welcome.
Staying calm in the event of an emergency tow is essential, and a clear description of your location will help the driver get to you faster.
Try to include major landmarks, intersections, or road signs nearby, and your direction of travel.
A map application on your smartphone can help with this.
If you are booking a planned pickup, details such as the colour of your fence, or “two doors down from the park” are helpful too.
If it is safe to access your vehicle, remove all personal items before towing.
All of the vehicles in our care are kept secure, however, we cannot take responsibility if items go missing after they have been delivered.
If an accident has occurred, remember that infant and booster seats are no longer considered safe, and should not be removed for use elsewhere.
Where possible, remove any obstacles or hazards that may interfere with collection before the driver arrives.
For planned transport, this includes opening gates or moving other vehicles.
Take the time to confirm with your insurer whether the tow is covered and for what distance of travel.
In the event of breakdown recovery, Trade & General Towing will tow you to the closest mechanic, but if you request an alternate location, your insurance may not cover this, so calling ahead can help you avoid an unwelcome surprise.
Confirming with your delivery location that you are planning to have your vehicle dropped off can also reduce confusion.
By taking a few moments to complete these tasks, you can help us ensure the easiest pickup and experience of
towing in Newcastle.
Don’t forget, whether you seek an emergency roadside recovery or a planned collection and transfer, Trade & General Towing is here for you, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. So please
